The controls in Samorost 3 are simple enough to understand, and if you’ve ever played any point-and-click adventure in the past, then you know how it works. And since it is also a puzzle adventure game, there will be plenty of challenges that you’ll come across that need to be solved before you can move on. In Samorost 3, there are nine total alien worlds that you’ll be able to discover and explore, with each of them having their own special alien life form inhabiting it. You control a little space gnome who ends up with a magic flute, and you set out on a journey to discover the flute’s origins. Like most other games of the genre, you’ll find yourself dropped into a beautiful world without too much direction. And since the game revolves around a magic flute to listen to special tunes from objects, sound is a pretty big part of this game. The ambient soundtrack in Samorost is atmospheric and truly engaging, so you’ll want to whip out your favorite earbuds for an immersive experience. The animations of your space gnome character, as well as other living beings, are buttery smooth and fluid, and everything is just bouncing with their own personality and charm. Players will find themselves in a distinctive world in space that is full of gorgeous, lush environments that make you feel as if you are truly there, complete with depth-of-field effects. This isn't an easy game, to be sure, but if you're looking for something different, this certainly fits the bill.Like their other titles, Samorost 3 is visually stunning. Unlike other adventure games that might play cheap or expect you to poke around every screen for every tiny stray pixel you might have missed, this developer's sort of adventure games are more about trying concepts out than desperately poking around for example, early on, there's a mysterious box with levers to control a bridge, and you must actually destroy the bridge rather than create some sort of path to someplace. They know what they're doing, so you're in good hands. The people who created this game have made a bunch of others similar to it. If you like having your brain poked and prodded and tested then this, absolutely, is a game to check out. The puzzles and how strange they are is heightened by the fact that you won't find a single word of English, so you have to truly pay attention and be aware of the things you might not even realize you can interact with or try. Samorost 3 is that sort of game, a quiet and patient point-and-click adventure game that implores you to reflect, think, and wonder about what you've seen and what you can do. Sometimes, you need a game that you know you'll be working on for a few months, if not the better part of a year.
